Completing Your FAFSA

As a current student you will need to complete a new FAFSA each year you are in school. This is required to keep your eligibility for Financial Aid up to date.

The FAFSA form is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. You will need your FSA ID number to complete the form so you will be able to electronically sign the FAFSA and loan applications.

  • Be sure to have your completed 1040 and W2's from your taxes handy to help with the FAFSA application process. Most of the income questions asked in the FAFSA process are found on the federal 1040 and W2's.
  • If you are a dependent student, you will want to have both yours and your parent's 2015 federal tax return handy. Your parents will need a FSA ID number as well. A FSA ID can be obtained at
  • You may choose to estimate your income but you will need to update this information once your taxes are complete.
  • PTC’s Federal School Code is 007437 (School Code is still listed under PTI). You will need this to ensure that your FAFSA application is sent to PTC.
  • The FAFSA application should take you about 20 minutes
  • If you need to stop in the middle of the application, remember to SAVE your work and you can go back and make corrections just click on the make a correction link.
