A high school senior
in a hurry to get to college.
A high school graduate
who made a false start somewhere else and doesn’t want to wait until September.
An adult student
anxious to build your career.
A working adult
who knows the sooner you strengthen your skills, the sooner you can advance.
PTC’s almost-the-fall class start in mid-July could be the perfect choice for you. Here’s why July.
- Most college students start classes in late August or early September.
By starting just a few weeks earlier you get a jump on part-time jobs in the area.
- Traditionally, college students graduate in May and June.
Most PTC associate degree programs can be completed in just 21 months - in early April for PTC students who start in July. By graduating a month or more before other college graduates, you get a jump on the job market and an advantage meeting hiring managers.
“You’ll not only get our job search assistance,” says Josephine Smith, Director of Career Services. “You get a jump start on your career.”
- July classes don’t start until late in the month.
You have plenty of time to enjoy the summer, go to the pool, take a vacation, spend time with your friends, family and children, and make plans for your first day of college.
- Students who start in July are on campus for two summers.
Summertime is fun time at PTC and in Pittsburgh. There are lots of opportunities to enjoy all that Pittsburgh has to offer including Pirate baseball games, the Arts Festival, the Three Rivers Regatta, Kennywood, Sand Castle… and PTC’s Summer Carnival two times.
- July students receive first choice on housing and work-study jobs.
Students who start in July move into on-campus and off-campus housing before students who start later which means they have first choice at summer vacancies. This also applies to work study jobs on campus.
“July is a good time to start at PTC because there are more choices of where to live,” says Keith Merlino, Vice President of Student Services.
