Drama Club Presents Two Innovative Plays

PTC’s student Drama Club presented two plays to appreciative audiences Wednesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 12 in the Gallery.

The first play, “World Without Men” a comedy by Philip Johnson, featured PTC’s first all-female cast.  The story was of a noted scientist who develops a program to rid the world of men.

The play featured:

  • Rachel Philips
  • Alyssa Howard
  • Molly McCalmont
  • Charley Clementson
  • Maggie Brizzoli
  • Michelle Padavano
  • Amber Clementson

The second production, “In the Zone” by Eugene O’Neill features PTC’s first all-male cast. The play is a dramatic presentation of a group of sailors who grow paranoid after witnessing suspicious activities by a quiet shipmate.

This production featured PTC actors:

  • James Redlinger
  • Jeff Gnacinski
  • Greg Holowatyj
  • Neiko Eggleston
  • Shaun Ion
  • Davie Melder
  • Max Pappalardo
  • Ethan Mansberger
  • Peter Eiger
  • Josh Harbison

Jen Sarvey was the stage manager for both productions.

Dan Kirk, who heads the Drama Club modernized both plays to appeal to the present-day audience.  “World Without Men” was originally written in 1930 and “In the Zone” in 1917.

“This quarter was a fun challenge, said Mr. Kirk. I have always wanted to stage an all-female cast and an all-male cast, kind of a “one for the guys” and “one for the gals” approach. It was fun to work with the students on these productions because the two separate casts bonded together individually, yet collectively. The entire Drama Club still supported each other. They all really wanted to see each other succeed. I am proud of them for that.”
